When the world shut down, we made more work close to home than ever before. Commissioned for the exhibition "Inside/Outside The Box," artists were each given a shipping container to make a work in/on. Reeling from the loss of our first huge public art commission, we returned to the playfulness at the core of our practice.
This work was a process-based experiment that evolved over the course of four months (studio time in the public realm). The work began as a surface relief of 2x4s stacked inside the container and evolved to become an abstract landscape of picnic tables -- an element that we wanted to experiment with for its potential as a public artwork. The work, by chance, also became a set for a music video for the song “Who Should Know” by Little Wings. We're deeply grateful to Kyle Field of Little Wings for his collaboration on this project.
